1. Acceptance

By creating a MatRide account you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.

3. Using MatRide

MatRide connects riders and drivers. Fares shown before you request a ride are estimates; your final fare may differ. Drivers are independent contractors, not employees of MatRide.

4. Payment

Accepted payment methods vary by market, and the app shows the methods available to you before you book. Where your market is card-based, a card authorisation may be placed before a driver is dispatched and captured when the trip ends. Where your market settles directly with the driver, you pay them by bank transfer or cash at the end of the trip and nothing is taken from a card. The current methods for each market are listed on the relevant city page.

Where a cancellation fee applies, it is disclosed before you confirm, and any card authorisation that is not charged is released.

5. Prohibited conduct

No fraud, harassment, or unsafe conduct toward other users.

6. Suspension and termination

MatRide may suspend or close an account for a documented reason.

7. Disputes and governing law

For riders and drivers in the United States, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and the state and federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois have jurisdiction.

For riders and drivers in Nigeria, these terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction.

Needs counsel — Whether to require arbitration, whether to include a class-action waiver, and whether either is enforceable in Illinois and in Lagos State. Nothing of the sort is asserted above — the clause deliberately stops at choice of law and venue until counsel decides.

8. Liability

Needs counsel — Limitation-of-liability and indemnity language is intentionally absent. It is jurisdiction specific, it is the clause most likely to be unenforceable if copied from a template, and drafting it without a lawyer would be worse than leaving it out.

9. Changes to these terms

We publish a new version here when these terms change. Material changes require re-acceptance in the app before you can keep using it.
